Discover Who You Are through Podcasts
Plus catch up on chisme from the Latinesphere* in Volume 8 of ¡El Playlist!
This week we’re on an exploration of discovering who we are with a hefty dose of chisme (aka gossip) from two different group of friends. And two of the three are also on YouTube.
All of these suggestions were found through a fellow podcaster who also has a podcast recommendation Substack, so follow
for a broader range of content.¿Quién Tú Eres?
Description: Our mission is to redefine the word "professionalism" by empowering Latino/ Latina/ Latinx communities to be their authentic selves. When we are told to be professional, in many ways we are told to not be ourselves. On this podcast, we have candid conversations and explore the conflict that we often face between being our authentic selves & "professionalism". The podcast is named ¿Quién Tú Eres? because that’s the question that we want each guest to answer. Listen to find out who we really are...when we stop code-switching. Episode recommendation: I feel very strongly that the concept of legacy is faulty and mostly bullshit (I made 12 episodes about it), so I obviously love Oscar Martinez’s description of it. In the episode Creating a Legacy with Oscar Martinez, he plainly states “I love my daughter to death. She’s not my legacy.” It’s at the tail end of that episode, but it’s a worthwhile listen (or watch it on YouTube).

Hijas Que Hablan
Description: A bi-weekly podcast from four latinx daughters. Hijas Que Hablan, gets into the pretty and the ugly aspects of latinx culture.

Episode recommendation: my favorite episode quote was in episode 53 about 2 mins in, re: Bad Bunny not being in the news until “Kendall twerked on him and homegirl looked like the Cinnamon Stick Guy.” Accurate. It also include an AITA discussion about exposing an adopted child to Mexican culture against the wishes of one parent 🫨🫨🫨
Todo Chido Podcast
Description: Sometimes philosophical, sometimes nonsensical, but always cool.

Episode recommendation: episode 28 contains an interesting take on the question of “is it selfish to have kids?” They’re tackling it through the lens of climate change (it’s about an hour into the episode). Obviously I have thoughts…but I respect their opinions. It’s cool.
Todo Chido is also on YouTube

*According to Google, the word “Latinesphere” doesn’t exist. The gendered version of the word does, but this might mean you were here for the birth of a new word 🤩💫
Thanks for the mention :)
