Introducing ¡El Playlist! A Weekly-ish List of Indie Latine Podcasts
Esta semana features trailblazers del Silicon Valley, world travel, y cultura pop in Volume 3 of ¡El Playlist!
What originally started as a means of turning (“tuning”) you on to Latine-led indie podcasts is evolving into something bigger. Although this is only the 3rd edition, I’ve discovered so many great pods to share that there is no way I can pack all of them into the 4 short weeks of Hispanic Heritage Month.
So welcome to ¡El Playlist!, a weekly-ish section of the newsletter spotlighting indie podcasts by Latines. You’ll automatically receive it! But if podcast recs aren’t your bag, no problemo. You can choose to only remain subscribed to the main newsletter.
You can always find the archives here.
This week’s playlist includes a varied mix of a Silicon Valley vet, a wanderer, and some pop culture critics:
Latinas from the Block to the Boardroom
Not only is Theresa Gonzales a friend of mine and the pod, she’s also a former guest, Silicon Valley veteran, 3rd generation Chicana, a CEO, and host of Latinas B2B.
Theresa is on a mission to save us from the dangers of AI while also platforming Latinas making all the right moves:
Executive Producer and Host, Theresa E. Gonzales, former Silicon Valley Tech executive, speaks with guests to elevate the experiences, accomplishment and research achievements, dedicated to Latina women in STEM, BIPOC Entrepreneurship & Community advocates. Together, our intergenerational conversations are changing the dominant narrative through technology for reimagined leadership and innovation from the Block To The Boardroom.
She also has a love for chickens🐔

This Latina Travels
Host Bianca Alba is a wandering Bolivian currently making a home in San Juan, PR. Her show takes us around the world.
A travel podcast through the eyes of a first-generation Latina! My name is Bianca Alba and I am so excited to have this platform where I can share stories with you about some of the amazing places I have visited throughout the years! More than that, this podcast is also a way for me to share proof that dreams can become reality. I grew up with three sisters in a single parent home, so for a long time, trips and vacations were just an idea. This podcast has shown me not just how far I’ve come, but how far we can go as Latinas who love to travel.

The Latin Jukebox
My Twitter buddy Andres of The Latin Jukebox (Rockola del Rolo) believes music is a lovely universal language and I can’t disagree. The podcast is mostly in Spanish, but even from his first episode he’s playing bangers we can all recognize.
We talk about music, things that music have in common, great guests, and conversations about the influence in the music scene. #Spanglish is our first language :)

The Movie Loot
Let’s close this out with another Puerto Rican! Host Carlo has a fun premise for The Movie Loot: each month begins with “the assignment” that defines the category of films to watch, and ends with “the loot,” a discussion of the movies they ended up watching.
The podcast where we help you snatch the biggest loot of greatest, coolest, weirdest films out there. Our host Carlo uses a set of random criteria every month to guide him to the best loot. Check it out and join the loot!
