Every week it’s my goal to help you start rethinking and dismantling one of the many unhelpful and toxic ideas that our culture makes us believe are true.
All those things you should be doing or should have accomplished by now? Or the traditions that can keep us quiet and miserable?
Yeah, those. What I refer to as “the bullshit.”
This week, guest Fede Vargas is modeling for us what a life after overcoming all of the bullshit can look like. One where you become the best version of you, liberated from the shackles of what society deems you should be, think, and feel. And ultimately, having gratitude for simply being who you are.
As a bonus, Fede is also the host of My Most Authentic Life, and if you think that sounds a little bit like La Vida Más Chévere, you’re not wrong! Fede and I have twin missions to help our listeners find their most authentic selves and live their best lives, so this week we tag-teamed and hosted each other on our respective podcasts.
Which means that tomorrow, after you enjoy this episode, you’ll be able to hear me on his podcast too.

Question of the Week
During our interview, Fede posed the question:
Would you rather live a comfortable lie or an uncomfortable truth?
Which would you choose? Answer in the comments 👇
Prime Day
Also Prime Day is today and tomorrow, which means you can get a ton of stuff from Amazon at a discount. If you were waiting for deals on stuff you were going to buy anyway, then get thee to Amazon!
But if you’re just looking to amass more stuff, you don’t need me to tell you that it’s probably not going to give you the happiness you’re looking for.
That said, there are schools and non-profits that could use some items on their wish lists. Even though I don’t want kids, I still do want future generations to get the best educations possible to keep the crime and poverty rates low.
So check out the 2023 report on teacher spending compiled by the non-profit Adopt a Classroom, and see how you can make a difference.
If you are continuing on the Amazon route for yourself, the select few items I would suggest include:
Wealth Warrior: 8 Steps for Communities of Color to Conquer the Stock Market by guest Linda Garcia
VAVA VA-EB008 Frother for delicious morning lattes that I mentioned in the self-care episode
Trader Joe’s Facial Sunscreen SPF 40 because it’s a dupe for a very expensive brand, it’s perpetually sold out in TJ stores, and you need to start wearing a daily sunscreen YESTERDAY
Amazon Prime not just for the shipping deals, but they have some truly amazing programming, like The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel. No one makes self-sabotage look quite so good. Or funny. For more on that:
