Powerful Conversations with Inspiring Latinas
Plus, another chance to vote for your favorite woman in podcasting!
My love for amplifying Latina voices continues to grow! A few episodes back, guest Dr. Hortencia Jimenéz explained why promoting episodes as well as rating and reviewing these shows is so important:
Because representation matters. When we get your review, when we get that star, that gives us visibility because our voices are muted. They're muted by other, bigger podcasts that tend to not present the communities that we come from. That's why we're always saying, please leave a review. Please follow the podcast, please share it. Tell a friend.
Awards are another powerful way to increase our representation. Think about how often you see "Academy Award Winner" or "Academy Award Nominee" in movie promotions. It’s the same thing in the podcasting medium!
You can help me continue to uplift the voices of other Latinas by voting for my podcast to win a Women in Podcasting award. It’s a slightly convoluted system to vote, so here’s the explainer post:
Voting ends on October 1st (which is my wedding anniversary, so winning would be a great gift!).
I was thrilled to be a guest on the podcasts of two women I deeply admire, both of whom I’ve also featured on ¡El Playlist! so you might already recognize them.
When you have a moment this week, please check out their episodes. I’m so grateful to each of these women for opening up to these meaningful conversations.
