Reaching Broader Communities Through Podcasts
¡EP! Vol 10 includes podcasts by and for our POC communities
Sometimes I try to have a theme for these lists and sometimes I don’t. This week the theme won’t be obvious to you, but these are all podcasts I learned about in a podcasters networking event a few days ago.
I’m breaking my own rules (with a slight nod to one of these recommendations), because these are not strictly independent podcasts either. What does that mean? Are they big budget productions? Not necessarily.
But they are crafted by people who are passionate about Latines and other people of color, producing content for our communities, with missions aligned with what I do on La Vida Más Chévere.
As always, if you have a recommendation for a Latine-led podcast, drop it in the comments!
What Rules!?
Description: After spending over two years interviewing multicultural women in the C-suite, entrepreneurs, authors and speakers, we’ve seen a running theme of how women are shattering the glass ceiling and breaking through the concrete ceiling: rule-breaking. But what rules are we talking about and why do they exist? That’s what we explore in the What Rules!? podcast. You’ll learn our six guiding principles for multicultural women looking to outsmart the game to advance their career.
Episode recommendation: produced by Lixandra Urresta of the Career Switch podcast recommended in ¡El Playlist! Vol 5, you can get to know the three hosts (Alisa Manjarrez, Courtney Copelin, and Dr. Merary Simeon) through the kick-off of their Own Your Power series with episode 82: How to Own Your Identity (Own Your Power Series, Part 1).

Episode recommendation: if you hadn’t guessed from the description, this relatively new podcast is 100% in Spanish! Since there are only 10 episode, I’d suggest starting at the beginning. And since LVMC guest Linda García taught us that one of the 3 ways to create wealth in this country is through real estate (aka bienes raíces), it’s fitting the podcast opens with an interview with real estate agent Alfredo Salcedo.

Episode recommendation: Carol has a very calming voice, and I especially enjoyed her episode on Emotional Wellness (which she defined in the episode, in case you’re scratching your head asking what that is!).
