“Selfish” Isn’t the Insult You Think It Is
Our government is giving panic and small dick energy
If you heard the latest episode, you know I feel a certain way about the word “selfish.”
To be honest, it’s my least favorite childfree bingo. That word has been weaponized against childfree people—or let’s be real, childfree women—for far too long.
Who is REALLY Selfish?
Are we, childfree people, really the selfish ones?
Or are people who:
slash aid to the most vulnerable members of society (like kids and the elderly)
enjoy watching innocent people being kidnapped or killed on the streets simply for their skin color
the actual selfish ones?
Because almost every single person in our current government who is responsible for these very actions happening all around us right now?
They’re parents.
Moms and dads who couldn’t give a single solitary fuck about anyone they harm, as long as they get to either be cruel, make more money, or both.
Some, like the other reality show guy, Sean Duffy (in charge of the Department of Transportation) have LOTS of kids. Duffy has 9.
Former Mormon missionary Jamieson Greer, ambassador on trade, has 5.
The puppy killer with an allergy for testifying in Congress, ICE Barbie Kristi Noem has 3 kids and 3 grandkids. Apparently none of that has taught her to care about vulnerable people, though.
And we all know that JD Vance has 3 mixed-race children with his wife Usha, who he loves very much even though as he said, “obviously she's not a white person.”
Of course, Trump has 5 kids with 3 different women. Together, his 5 have 11 grandchildren.
But no one beats illegal immigrant Elon Musk with 14 kids.
Then maybe “selfish” isn’t the right word to describe people who simply opted out of what’s been sold to us as a traditional route? Maybe it’s actually a toxic trait to believe that, and then parrot it over and over ad nauseum.
That word has been used as an attack against anyone who dares to set a boundary. And let’s be clear: not having children is simply setting a boundary for yourself.
Fun Facts
Wanna hear something wild?
There are 3 childless members of Trump’s cabinet. All of them are women. It’s not clear if they’re childfree by choice or childless by circumstances, but it doesn’t even matter. Either way, they’re all complicit in this administration’s crimes.
Let’s quickly examine these 3 lone childless women:
Kelly Loeffler
The head of the Small Business Administration, Kelly Loeffler was once senator of Georgia. The same state that held a dead Black woman’s body hostage until they could rip a baby out her corpse.
Fun fact: Loeffler is Roman Catholic. Guess she missed the “go forth and multiply” memo.
Tulsi Gabbard
National Intelligence Director Tulsi Gabbard was recently thrown “under the bus” as the kids (or the National Review, Daily Kos, and Daily Beast) say, for breaking with Trump’s assertion that Iran has nukes.
Fun fact: Gabbard used to be a Democrat, but now hates wokeness.
Pam Bondi
Attorney General Pam Bondi is 59 years old and it’s not publicly known if she had kids, but if she does she’s doing an excellent job of hiding them. Guess she’s just another childless cat lady.
Fun fact: Bondi has ties to Qatar and Scientology, and was the lead attorney general trying to overturn Obamacare.
These 3 childless women seem to have zero problem acting on behalf of an administration running the Project 2025 playbook. Remember P25? It’s ardently enamored—one might even say obsessed—with the “traditional family” structure.
Here’s a quote from MSNBC:
According to Project 2025, not all families are created equal. On page 451, it defines the “right” kind of family as “a married mother, father, and their children.” It claims this is the “foundation of a well-ordered nation and a healthy society.”
And yet, none of these women find themselves in the “right” kind of family. Strange…
But wait! It gets better.
There’s also billionaire and former hedgefund manager, Scott Bessent, who is currently Secretary of the Treasury. He’s gay.
And has kids.
Let me be clear: there’s absolutely nothing wrong with LGTBQIA+ couples having kids. But there are a billion things wrong with promoting an agenda like Project 2025 against people like you.
But wait, there’s MORE!
We can’t forget one of the puppeteers behind this admin’s speed run to destroy democracy: billionaire Republican Peter Thiel is also gay.
AND has kids.
It isn’t simply selfishness driving these people, who will eventually also find themselves in the metaphorical gravel kill pit. (That’s where Noem killed her dog. And goat.)
It’s inevitable. They think they’re “one of the good ones” but unless the whole production is ground to a halt, and soon…I doubt they’re going to be spared either.
There’s also the hypocrisy, that the rules and laws don’t apply to them.
Why do they—the ones actively trying to dismantle democracy—get a pass on “selfish”?
Honestly, in light of all the worse things one can be called, maybe selfish isn’t even that bad. It’s not correct, but at least I’m not an unrepentant dog killer.
It’s About Control
So let’s stop pretending this is about selfishness. Because it never has been.
This is about control.
It’s about power.
It’s about who gets to break the rules and who gets punished for not following them.
Childfree people aren’t selfish. We’re just not willing to set ourselves on fire to keep a broken system warm.
We’re not the ones hoarding resources, gutting social safety nets, or weaponizing fascist-flavored Christianity to force others into compliance.
We’re simply saying no.
No to a life we didn’t choose, to expectations that don’t serve us, to the idea that our worth is tied to how well we perform an obsolete version of “family.”
If that’s selfish…then babe, maybe selfish isn’t the insult they think it is. We are not the enemy. In this bizarro world where cruelty passes for leadership and hypocrisy runs the country, the enemy is in plain sight.
They can call us selfish all they want. But you Super Cheveritas know the truth: we’re not the problem.
We’re the resistance.
Whose side are you on?
