Since the theme of today is about giving, can I ask a favor? I promise it will cost you nothing but a couple of minutes of your time.
When was the last time you left a review for your favorite podcast? It’s literally free but in case you don’t know, is a tremendous gift to the producers of the show.
Especially indie podcasts, where usually the host is also the editor, sound engineer, marketing team, and sometimes even the coffee maker1—your review is worth its weight in gold.
Why are reviews such a big deal? Like my guest Dr. Hortencia Jimenéz told us on episode 71:
Because representation matters. When we get your review, when we get that star, that gives us visibility because our voices are muted. They're muted by other, bigger podcasts that tend to not present the communities that we come from. That's why we're always saying, please leave a review. Please follow the podcast, please share it. Tell a friend.

How to leave a review? It's so easy, a caveman can do it:
On Apple Podcasts: Open the app, find the podcast, scroll down to "Ratings & Reviews", tap "Write a Review"
On Spotify: Go to the podcast page, scroll to "Ratings & Reviews", tap "Rate" or "Add a Review"
Pro tip: Be specific in your review. Instead of just "Great podcast!", try something like "I love how [Host Name] always brings unexpected perspectives to [topic]. Their interview with [guest/episode] completely changed how I think about [subject]."
This #GivingTuesday, I'm asking you to give something that costs nothing but means everything: a podcast review. Think of it as throwing a little sunshine into someone's day, helping an independent creator continue doing what they love, and potentially connecting other listeners to content that could inspire, educate, or simply entertain them.
In the spirit of giving, take two minutes right now. Pull up a podcast you love, and leave a review. Trust me, the podcast gods (and the very real humans behind the mic) will thank you.
If you’d like to start with La Vida Más Chévere, I’d really appreciate it!
I do have a separate team member to make coffee. It’s Ryan, my husband!
