From Tourist to American Dream Cat
Issue 41 of ¡El Playlist! introduces 3 more Latinas In Podcasting speakers
If you haven’t noticed, I like having fun creating post titles out of the names of the podcasts. I admit that some are better than others. I’m tickled by this one. 😻
The Latinas in Podcasting Virtual Summit (L.I.P.) is in less than ONE MONTH! This post is dedicated to 3 of the podcasters making this Latina’s American dream come true.
Btw, are you on our waitlist yet? Tickets go on sale a week from Monday!!
The American Dream in the Eyes of Immigrants
Description: The American Dream in The Eyes of Immigrants is about sharing the stories of Immigrants. Their first memory of the US, the culture shocks they experienced, and their journey learning to navigate a whole new country.🎧Listen to The American Dream in the Eyes of Immigrants
Episode recommendation: I’ve recommended Heidy’s podcast before because she featured my mom! She recently branched out to include the kids of immigrants, like in this episode: I Never Identified as a Child of Immigrant Parents with Evelin Andrade Ep. 63. And then subscribe to her Substack, too!
💻Stay tuned: Heidy’s L.I.P. session is on a mighty but often neglected area of opportunity for new podcasters: SEO. Never underestimate the power of keywords again!
6 Degrees of Cats
Description: Why were cats gods in ancient Egypt but Satan’s familiar by Europe’s Middle Ages? Why do serial killers and despots hate cats? When did cats get into jazz? And how the heck does all of this random cat stuff connect to us in the here and now?
Listen to 6 Degrees of Cats, the world’s #1 (and only) cat-themed culture, history and science podcast to join cat worshipper Amanda B. as she investigates these and other hard hitting questions with a diversity of guest experts from across the globe.
Episode recommendation: I’ve never played favorites on these lists, but I must today because 6 Degrees of Cats is my absolute favorite podcast in the entire world. Amanda’s mastery of storytelling AND sound design is unmatched. And she’s as amazing in person as she is behind the mic. The one I love most is her take on “man’s best friend” in Felines & Fatherhood: Exploring Masculinity, Father’s Day, and the Unique Bond Between Men and Cats.
Also, get on her Substack!
💻Stay tuned: Amanda showcases the skills that rocketed her to the top of many a podcast playlist (and awards lists!) with her session called Scrappy Sound Design, available on Day 2 of the L.I.P. virtual summit.
